Out of favour Indian opener Gautam Gambhir always lends his help in social causes, and for yet another time it was evident when the southpaw was seen distributing food to some needy kids on the occasion of Children’s day. It was such a pleasant sight to see Gambhir feed the underprivileged children and even veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh couldn’t stop but appreciate the Delhi lad who won million hearts with his act yet again.

Gambhir shared the video on 14th November via his Twitter handle, “आँखे नम है के इन नन्हें हाथों ने अब तक अपनी तक़दीर ही कोसी है। कोशिश कर रहा हूँ के मैंने थाली में खाना नहीं उम्मीद परोसी ह,” Gambhir’s caption in the video read. Harbhajan in his own Punjabi style wished Gambhir’s success for doing such a noble deed.

“Gauti love u man rab tenu Bhut khush rakhe.. thank you for doing this,” Harbhajan wrote. Both the players have won numerous matches for Indian during their hey days. While Harbhajan was instrumental in giving India a historic series victory against Australia during the 2001 series, Gambhir has arguably played the two most important innings in the history of Indian cricket. The magical knocks in the ICC World Twenty20 final and ICC World Cup 2011 final were the pillar behind India’s triumphant campaign on both occasions.

Despite being out of the national team for a considerable amount of time, Gambhir continues to be a popular figure in the micro-blogging site, Twitter. The southpaw never backs away from expressing his views and always raises his voice against any wrongdoings in the society. The southpaw is part of the Delhi Ranji Trophy team but his return to international cricket might be a road too far especially with the competition for the opener’s slot in the current Indian team.

Gambhir last played for India in November 2016 during the home Test series against England in the absence of some regular openers. He failed to make his opportunity count and was eventually dropped from the team again.
