Harbhajan Singh is one of the greatest off-spinners that India has ever produced. The turbanator, who burst on the scene as a 17-year-old in 1998 dominated batsmen around the world for over a decade and is the third-highest wicket-taker for the country, with Anil Kumble and Kapil Dev leading the pack.

Harbhajan last played for India in 2016 and is currently a member of the Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings. Bhajji might be a great bowler back in the day but recently he has drawn a lot of ire from fans courtesy a plethora of outrageous comments in the public domain.

The latest example is his comment on a social media post which had referred to the fact that members of the 2011 World Cup-winning Indian team did not play a single game together post the quadrennial event.

Commenting on the post, Harbhajan alleged that there were a plethora of things happening in the background during that time that led to the members of that team not playing together post the 2011 World Cup. He even threatened to expose the people responsible for that, by writing what he called an ‘HONEST book’. He, however, deleted the tweet moments later.

“How ridiculous. let the time comes will reveal who was playing what games to keep everyone away from each other’s…lot was happening…time for me to write a book I guess…An HONEST book about what all happen and overall” Harbhajan Singh tweeted.

In many ways the 2011 World Cup final was the end of the golden era of Indian cricket. Post the triumph, the likes of Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Harbhajan Singh lost their form, Yuvraj Singh was diagnosed with cancer while Zaheer Khan’s recurring injuries cut short his career.

Harbhajan Singh was dropped after the tumultuous England tour after he had returned midway due to injury. He was subsequently replaced by Ravichandran Ashwin in both the Test and white-ball line-ups.

That said, Harbhajan did get a plethora of chances post that but he could never regain his touch. He was recalled for the 2012 Test season at home against England and Australia but after indifferent performances were dropped soon after.

Harbhajan made another comeback- this time in white-ball cricket- in the 2015-16 season. He was a part of the 2016 T20 World Cup squad but did not get a single game thereafter. He was soon dropped and since then his game time has been reduced to the Indian Premier League where he currently plays for the Chennai Super Kings.
