India cricket stars Harbhajan Singh, Virender Sehwag and Suresh Raina came up with an exemplary gesture as a mark of protest to the dastardly terrorist attack in Pulwama district.

On Thursday, a suicide bomber from the Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into a CRPF bus in Pulwama district, killing at least 40 personnel and leaving many critically wounded.

The bus was on the Srinagar-Jammu highway in Lethpora town, about 30 km from Srinagar when the attack took place. The entire nation is in a state of shock as well as furious following the gruesome attack. The whole of India is condemning the attack and paying tribute to the fallen brave souls. The cricketing fraternity has also not remained far behind. The players have not only condemned the attack but have also come forward to help the families of the martyrs’ families.

Virender Sehwag has already said that he would like to bear the educational expenses of the children of the martyrs while Shikhar Dhawan has also posted a video message, confirming that he would help the families financially.

And now Sehwag along with his former India teammates Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh has come up with yet another heartwarming gesture. The trio voluntarily stopped shooting of a commercial for two hours on Sunday to express their protest against the attack. They were at the Filmcity in Goregaon for a commercial which was Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan’s next big project featuring Indian cricketers.

“Whatever we say or do will perhaps be less for the soldiers and their daily. We can only thank them and should do whatever can to help them. We are pained but are hopeful for a better time for all of us in the future,” Virender Sehwag said.

Harbhajan Singh said he hopes the sacrifice of the martyred soldiers does not go in vain.

“These are tough times but let’s stay united so that they aren’t able to break us. I’m grateful to all the soldiers who protect us around the clock. Cricketers, actors aren’t heroes. The real hero of the nation is our soldier,” Harbhajan Singh said.
