The Twenty20 skipper for Indian women, Harmanpreet Kaur, has been named as a Deputy Superintendent of Police for Punjab police.
The post of DSP was put forward to consideration in July 2017. The star cricketer Harmanpreet played an integral part in the 2017 ICC Women’s World Cup in England. She smashed unbeaten 171 against Australia in the semi-final clash which grabbed her headlines.

For that, Harmanpreet was awarded INR 5 lakh for her scintillating out in the World Cup by Punjab government.
In the past, the right-handed batter Harmanpreet was working with Indian Railways to pursue her cricketing career. However, later on, she expressed wish to join Punjab police.
The Moga-born cricketer Harmanpreet had already signed the bond with railways. According to such condition, the employee could not be relieved until and unless completing the respective terms.
But with the intervention of Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, the request was put in to waive the terms and conditions.
The matter was discussed with railway ministry before Harmanpreet was allowed to sign up for the new role.

Pertinently, Harmanpreet was serving as the Office Superintendent for Western Railways for three years before she tendered the resignation in 2017.
Interestingly the coveted stars were pinned on Harmanpreet’s police uniform by the chief minister himself alongside Director General of Police for Punjab (DGP).
