Chennai Super Kings sustained their fourth loss in as many as six matches in IPL 2020 in Abu Dhabi against Kolkata Knight Riders. MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings were cruising to the target of 168; however, Shane Watson’s wicket in the 14th over significantly slowed them down. Former Indian spinner Pragyan Ojha has hit out at people blaming MS Dhoni and pointed out Kedar Jadhav’s failure as the major reason behind their loss.
Chennai Super Kings entered the last four overs needing 44 with MS Dhoni and Sam Curran at the crease. Varun Chakravarthy copped a boundary in the second ball from the skipper; however, removed him the next delivery to hand the Knight Riders a massive boost. Kedar Jadhav, who followed after him, played out three dot balls. Overall, Jadhav faced 12 balls for only seven runs.
Pragyan Ojha was unhappy at the fans, who blame MS Dhoni whenever the Super Kings perform poorly. The former left-arm spinner thinks it is unfair for the keeper-batsman to control all the things by himself and questioned Kedar Jadhav’s place, underlining that he is not performing the way he is expected to.
“It is not just about the KKR game, but it is about what has been happening since many days [in the CSK unit]. Every time CSK does something that the fans don’t like, they start talking about MS Dhoni. But is it humanly possible for just one individual to be responsible for everything. We cannot just blame him. We have got Kedar Jadhav who is not scoring. He is not looking the way we all expect him to perform,” Ojha told Sports Today.
“Also, MS Dhoni came up the order to bat” : Pragyan Ojha
Ojha added that the skipper also came out to bat up the order against the Knight Riders and trying to fill the gap. The 34-year old pointed out that Suresh Raina’s absence is a massive hole to fill and the other one of Jadhav, who is looking off-colour. Hence, it is challenging for MS Dhoni.
“Also, MS Dhoni came up the order to bat, so he is trying to fill the gaps that are there in the team. There are two big gaps to be filled. One was Suresh Raina, who was there for CSK for so many years. And the second is Jadhav not performing. So, it becomes very difficult for you,” he added.
