The last couple of series have been sensational for Mayank Agarwal in his Test Career. Playing for India in India for the first time, Agarwal showed no signs of fear, as he went on to smash a double century for India against South Africa, later, he continued the similar show against Bangladesh to register his best-ever score of 243 runs to collect man of the match trophy. Meanwhile, Sunil Gavaskar heaps praise on the youngster.
The young Mayank Agarwal made his Test debut in December last year and has since struck 858 runs across 12 innings including three centuries and as many half-centuries. Twice he has converted hundreds into double-centuries and currently averages a stunning 71.50. During the course of his performances, he also solved India’s problem with opening department.
Sunil Gavaskar praises Mayank Agarwal’s technique –
Speaking of Mayank Agarwal, Sunil Gavaskar mentioned an interesting point stating that Mayank Agarwal needs to perform in the same manner in the next year as well. He added that the opposition teams will have a lot of data regarding him in the next season, where Mayank needs to deliver the goods for the team.

“He is enjoying Test cricket, this is his first year and hopefully he keeps scoring on the second year also because in the second season there is a lot more data available of you to the opposition but he has been batting beautifully,” Sunil Gavaskar said.
Further, he praised Mayank Agarwal’s technique while playing off-side strokes and calls him as the man of the moment for the Indian Cricket Team at present in the longer version of the game. The double century in the first Test will see him carry forward with confidence for the second Test, which will be played with Pink Ball.

“The way he balances himself without falling on the offside as he plays so straight and his movement of the front and back foot has been fantastic making him the man in form who is full of confidence,” Sunil Gavaskar said on Nerolac Cricket Live exclusively on Star Sports.
