In today’s cricketing era, not many can boast Virat Kohli of silencing him with the bat or otherwise. Moreover, only a handful can remember Kohli of sledging them upfront. But in one of the most interesting revelations, Bangladeshi cricketers Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes disclosed that the Indian captain did sledge Imrul Kayes. And how Tamim managed to shut his mouth.

It was in 2011 that the incident unfolded and was the first time when he played against India. Despite sharing an amicable bond, Imrul was baffled by how Kohli sledged him. While Imrul didn’t retaliate, he told his fellow countryman Tamim about it. And when the latter retaliated, the Delhi batsman fell silent.
On Wednesday, the 33-year old was involved in a live session in which he disclosed that ever since the duo attended a camp in 2017 in Australia, they shared a good bond. In 2011, when playing India for the very first time, Virat Kohli was having a go at the southpaw, which surprised him.
Then Imrul recalled telling the same to Tamim Iqbal, who gave it back. That was the point when Kohli took a step back and never sledged him since. The southpaw also remembered the Test series in 2016 during which Kohli had a war of words with other players but not once with him.
“Imrul said in a live session with cricket-based website Cricfrenzy on Wednesday night. “We have had a good relationship ever since. I played against him for the first time in 2011 after joining the national team. Kohli was constantly sledging me. I was surprised. He was still sledging after having such a good relationship.”
“I thought he was still sledging after a good month! But I did not answer myself. I told Tamim that he was sledging. Then Tamim sledged him again. Tamim can do these well, he is very aggressive on the field. Kohli has not sledged me since then.”
“When the game was played in Fatullah (2016), he sledged almost everyone. But he didn’t say a word to me. This time when we went to play a Test series in India, almost everyone was insulted. But he didn’t say a word to me.” Kayes said as quoted by bd.crictime.
“Virat Kohli is a legendary player”
But the veteran batsman didn’t shy away from hailing Virat Kohli as a world-class player. Imrul Kayes further remarked that he still remembers us after becoming a great player and speaks on his own.
“He’s at his level, a legendary player. We don’t have to do such calculations with him. One thing is for sure, he still remembers us after becoming such a great player. He speaks on his own.” he added.
