Messages poured in from all the quarters as batting legend Virender Sehwag turned 42 on Tuesday. South Africa speedster Dale Steyn also made sure to wish the former India batsman and it was a special message from the fast-bowling legend.
Dale Steyn, who is currently in UAE for the ongoing Indian Premier League, recalled the famous 2008 Chennai Test to wish Virender Sehwag. It was the very Test where the former India opener had registered his highest Test score, smashing 319 off just 304 balls.
During the course of his monumental knock, he also broke the record of the fastest triple-century, achieving the feat of 278 deliveries. India were under immense pressure after South Africa piled up 540 runs in their first innings. But Virender Sehwag completely changed the complexion of the game with his second Test triple ton.
During his historic knock, he had taken the likes of Dale Steyn, Jacques Kallis, Makhaya Ntini and Morne Morkel to the cleaners. And as the batting legend was celebrating his birthday on Wednesday, Dale Steyn made sure to recall that famous knock while wishing him.
Dale Steyn had conceded 46 runs off 48 deliveries in that game to Sehwag. Stating that he still have nightmares of the Chennai Test, the South African legend tweeted”
“Happy birthday Viru! Hope it’s been a good one my friend. PS. I still have nightmares of Chennai @virendersehwag”
