Former team India batsman, VVS Laxman, who recently celebrated his birthday two days back, has admitted that he misses serving his country in his capacity.

Meanwhile, the talented batsman is all set to come out with his autobiography 281 and Beyond on November 15. His journey, as explained by Laxman, is filled with honesty. Furthermore, his stories will inspire people from all the spheres of life.

The book dwells around various facets of his illustrious career, from the dressing room set-up he badly misses. VVS Laxman also misses his famed teammates Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and Virender Sehwag and how batting with each was different. And the legacy Sourav Ganguly left for Indian cricket. The game saw a paradigm shift after Laxman’s infamous 281-run knock that halted Australia’s dominance at Eden Gardens.

Many now say Indian cricket before and after that knock at Eden. It was a very important knock, not just for me, but for the team. The lessons we learnt and benefited when John Wright was the coach, it’s all there,” Laxman said at the book cover launch.

The autobiography also tells about the choices he had to make – going against the grain in the family of doctors. Moreover, VVS Laxman hoped that the book co-authored by their friend R Kaushik will help kids better their mindset.

Like his decision to not open the batting after the selectors dropped him from the South Africa series.

All these decisions were restricted to very few people, but now everyone can get to know what went into making decisions like these that shaped my career going forward,” he added.

Speaking about his overnight decision to bid farewell to cricket, Laxman admitted that he was also not sure.

Even I was not sure the night before whether I really want to step down,” he concluded.
