ICC Awards: Teenage Prodigy Rashid Khan Jubilant after receiving ICC's Associate Player of Year 2017 Award

The 19-year-old Nangarhar-born star leg-spinner Rashid Khan is delighted to be announced as the winner of the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Associate Player of the Year 2017 Award.

After scooping the prestigious award, Rashid took to the micro-blogging website Twitter, to express his satisfaction following his cunning accuracy and ability to eke out the wickets time and time again.

“Really a proud moment to get The Associate player of the Year 2017 Awards,” animated Rashid tweeted.

The wily customer in the form of Rashid has further thanked his well-wishers and the family for the achievement and urged that he would continue to make his country proud by giving his best on the field.

“Thanks to all my friends fans and my Family for the prayers and support,” the other half of the tweet from Rashid reads.

The prominent face with the ball Rashid has been at the forefront to take the national side to a new high which subsequently saw him grabbing the headlines for his spectacular show so far in his maiden stint during the ongoing seventh edition of the cash-rich KFC Big Bash League.

Rashid, who has bagged the most number of scalps in 2017, has further set his foot to join the BBL franchise Adelaide Strikers in the fourth quarter of the last year.

So much so, the professional cricketer from the war-torn county Afghanistan, Rashid has collected 60 wickets in a calendar year (2017).

Moreover, statistically Rashid dominated the batters in the One-day International format which saw him bagging 43 wickets, and that has been termed as a record turnout.

The widely-acclaimed cricketer Rashid, who made his international debut in 2015, has already set his focus on the Test cricket after Afghanistan was handed over a Test status by the world governing body ICC alongside Ireland during the annual conference in New Zealand, last year (2017).

Pertinently, in February 2017, Rashid Khan had been sealed for INR 7.5 crore, for the Indian Premier League franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad which was also his maiden stint for the burgeoning Twenty20 professional league.

Apart from IPL, Rashid has been part of the Bangladesh Premier League where he was available for the Comilla Victorians outfit, and he is further seen as the hottest property for the eleventh edition of the IPL.

Concluding, all eyes would be on the mega-auction days which is slated for January 27 and 28, respectively in Bengaluru which could further set the fate of the best-kept secret with the ball in the contemporary cricket particularly in the limited-overs format.
