Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been awarded the Men’s ODI player of the year 2018. Kohli was at his absolute best to bag the award for the second time running. He was adjudged the Men’s ODI player of the year in 2017 as well. Kohli was at his staggering best in 2018 as he scored 1202 runs at an unbelievable average of 133.50. Furthermore, Kohli also became the quickest to reach the huge mountain of 10,000 runs.

The talisman right-hander also scored his 10,000 runs in 205 innings and he became the fastest to get to the landmark. Kohli was at his absolute best and he has always been instrumental in the success of the team.

Kohli was at his best.

“To be rewarded in this manner from amongst all of them is obviously a very proud moment for me and something that gives you more motivation to keep repeating the same things because you have to keep the standard of cricket up and keep bringing in consistent performances. From that point of view, these awards give you that extra motivation.”

On the other hand, Virat Kohli scored a brilliant 104 runs in the second One Day International at Adelaide. Thus, India was able to level the three-match series. This was Kohli’s 39th ODI hundred as he continued with his love affair of scoring runs in Adelaide.

Kohli scored his 24th ODI hundred while chasing a target and he is rightly called the chase master. The Indian captain is the most consistent batsman in the game and he would like to continue in a similar fashion.

The next mission for Virat Kohli is the five-match ODI series against New Zealand. Kohli will like to continue his red-hot form into the World Cup as he is going to hold the key for the Men in Blue.

Furthermore, he also received the ICC Test player as well as ICC Cricketer of the year and became the first player to do bag all the three awards in a single year. Moreover, he is the captain of the ICC ODI Team and ICC Test team of the year.

ICC took to Twitter to announce the awards. The post read as, “For the second year running, @imVkohli is the ICC Men’s ODI Cricketer of the Year! ?

He scored 1,202 ODI runs in 2018 at a stunning average of 133.55. He also became the fastest to reach the milestone of 10,000 runs in the format”.
