Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has delayed signing the hosting contract for ICC Champions Trophy 2025, accrediting to reports in Cricket Pakistan. PCB has raised concerns with International Cricket Council (ICC) over Team India’s participation in the tournament.

Pakistan has been awarded the hosting rights for ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The Champions Trophy 2025 will be played in Pakistan from February to March. The Champions Trophy is often dubbed as a ‘mini World Cup’ where only the top teams of international cricket battle with each other.

Pakistan Raises Concerns With ICC Over Team India’s Participation in Champions Trophy 2025

According to some sources, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has delayed the signing of the hosting contract for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and raised some concerns with ICC. PCB got the hosting rights agreement from ICC some days ago.

Generally, such agreements are signed as soon as possible and sent back to ICC. However, PCB talked with some senior lawyers and raised concerns with ICC over Team India’s participation in the tournament.

Moreover, PCB also questioned ICC about the consequences of such events and how the losses will be compensated in such a scenario. ICC has not submitted its response to PCB’s concerns but the matter is expected to be taken up in the coming days.

Last month, ICC Chairman Greg Barclay and CEO Geoff Allardice visited Pakistan to finalize the hosting rights for Champions Trophy 2025. During the visit, PCB highlighted its financial ability to host such a tournament without the help of funds from the ICC.

BCCI recently denied sending Indian players to Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023 over security threats. As a result, a hybrid format for Asia Cup 2023 has been finalized under which the tournament will be played in Pakistan and Sri Lanka- with the former hosting the first four games and the latter hosting the next 9. India will play their games only in Sri Lanka.
