South Africa fast bowler Kagiso Rabada has jumped two places to reach a career-best third position among bowlers in the latest ICC Test Player Rankings for bowlers, after his man of the match performance against Bangladesh in the 2nd Test which helped the hosts complete a 2-0 whitewash in the two-match series.
The 22-year-old grabbed five wickets in each innings to get a 10-wicket-haul for 63 runs that helped his side to win by an innings and 254 runs. Rabada made a remarkable improvement in the latest rankings released by ICC. The rankings also take into account the second Test between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Dubai, where Sri Lanka managed to win the series 2-0 and became the first touring team to defeat Pakistan in the UAE.
The young fast-bowler from Johannesburg has overtaken the likes Ravichandran Ashwin and Rangana Herath, while Ravindra Jadeja is still at second place and James Anderson is at the top of the rankings.
Along with Rabada, Duanne Olivier too jumped up in the rankings and moved to a career-best of 48th position. Wayne Parnell and Andile Phehlukwayo too gained 10 and 27 places respectively.
In the ratings for batsmen, the Protea captain, Faf du Plessis and new-comer Aiden Markram have gained from the series win, as both batsmen scored centuries in Bloemfontein where the 2nd Test match was played.
In the other Test that took place in Dubai, Sri Lanka’s Dimuth Karunaratne‘s 196 and seven took him to 17th position and for the first time in his career, he has managed to get under 20 in the rankings.
