Australia's Param Uppal received a Mercedes Benz from his father as a gift after getting selected in the final of the ICC U-19 World Cup against India.

After three weeks of intense cricketing actions, it was the Indian Junior team that lifted the U-19 World Cup by defeating Australia by eight wickets to clinch their 4th Junior World Cup title.

It was a sensational tournament, and at the end of the day, the Indian youngsters proved too hot to handle for any opposition, as they were the only unbeaten team all through the tournament. The fact that the teenagers got a chance to play at such a huge stage was a moment of delight for them and their family members. The joy was so much that an Indian origin Australian cricketer, Param Uppal received a rich reward from his father.

The youngster has been scoring runs quite consistently in age group cricket in Australia. His father, Davindar Uppal had promised him ahead of the tournament that he would reward him with a Mercedez if he makes to the Playing XI of the Australian team in the final match. The teenager attainted the milestone, and in return, his father kept his words.

Davindar Uppal migrated to Australia around 15 years back and was a membership cricketer. Param Uppal’s roots are in Chandigarh. In fact, Param was born in Chandigarh only. He struck a well composed century in his U-19 debut for Australia which earned him a call-up for the World Cup.

Meanwhile, Davindar Uppal revealed that during the 2015 World Cup semi-finals between India and Australia, he had rooted for India while his son was backing an Australian win. However, both hoped for an Australian victory today.

However, it didn’t turn out like that, as India thrashed the Aussies quite comprehensively to return triumphantly by eight wickets and with nearly 12 overs to spare.

“In 2015 World cup semi-final I wore an India shirt, and Param wore an Australian jersey. On Saturday (when Australia and India face off within the Underneath-19 closing), I’ll undoubtedly be hoping Australia wins,” Davindar was quoted as saying by the Cricbuzz.
