Indian National Cricket Team fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been a terror for the opposition batsman since he burst onto the international scene. The Men in Blues will rely on him in the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019 in England and Wales. Ahead of the marquee tournament, Windies legend Brian Lara has come to the support of the batsmen and revealed how to tackle a bowler of Bumrah’s calibre.

Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah will enter the World Cup as the top-ranked ODI bowler. He has picked 85 wickets from 49 games since his international debut at an economy rate 4.51. With his unusual actions, the batsman has failed to pick him up. Bumrah also has a lot of variations up his sleeves, which makes him unpredictable. Virat Kohli will also pin hopes on the young fast bowler to lead their bowling attack alongside Mohammed Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

However, Brian Lara has come in support of the batsman. He has revealed the plan to tackle Jasprit Bumrah saying that he would not opt for the counter-attacking game. Rather, he would try and unsettle the pacer by continuously rotating the strike. Lara believes that not allowing India pacer to settle down in line and length can be the key to succeed against him.

“First of all, if I was facing him, I would look to get off the strike (laughs). He is very good and someone who has an awkward action. Batsman have to keep their eyes on him and I would maybe try to apply pressure on him by rotating the strike.

I would encourage batsmen to try to get six singles from his over. He is one of India’s best bowlers and then maybe you can look at other areas to get runs from. I don’t believe counter attacking against such a good bowler is a great idea,” Brian Lara said to IANS.

Jasprit Bumrah will look to make his first World Cup memorable and lead the bowling attack from the front. He has been in good form in the recently concluded IPL and will look to keep up the good work when India begin their campaign on June 5 at Southampton.
