India’s vice-captain Rohit Sharma has stated that nothing hurts him more than not being the part of the winning team of the 2011 World Cup. Rohit Sharma was not consistent in those days and thus he was not part of the World Cup team. In fact, it was after the 2013 Champions Trophy when Sharma was able to deliver consistent performances. The right-hander said that it is his ultimate dream to savour success in the World Cup.

Rohit Sharma has now matured as a batsman and there was a decrease in his rash shot-making. On the other hand, it was palpable that he used to play rash shots early on his career. It was the 2013 Champions Trophy when MS Dhoni promoted him as the opener and his career turned upside down.

Calmness is the key.

Currently, Rohit Sharma is a different batsman. He has delivered consistent performances and thus he is a pivotal cog in India’s World Cup wheel.

The flamboyant batsman said that it is his ultimate dream to win the World Cup. In fact, it is a lifetime dream of every player to achieve success in the biggest event of the game.

“It’s the ultimate dream. Any kid growing up begins to nurture dreams in whatever sphere of life he or she aspires for. As a cricketer, growing up, the idea of playing in a World Cup, to be part of that team, to win it — that’s the fairytale every youngster grows up dreaming about. Mine was just that kind of dream too,” said Rohit while talking to Times of India.

The Indian deputy said that calmness will be the key in the crunch situations. The stylish opener said desperation should be put aside and he would like to bring his best to the table.

“Look, there’s a balance one has to draw between the kind of desperation that exists within you and the calmness you seek, if you’ve got to keep playing this game at the highest level. Calmness is what I need. Not desperation.

Rohit Sharma is going to hold the key as he is one of the best batsmen in the world. The right-hander will like to provide solid starts to his team in the World Cup matches.

India will begin their World Cup preparation with a warm-up match against New Zealand on 25th May at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff. The Virat Kohli’s team will start their World Cup campaign against South Africa which will take place at Southampton on 5th June.
