South African skipper Faf du Plessis has predicted that hosts England and India can be the two finalists of the ongoing World Cup. India will meet New Zealand in the first semifinal whereas England will take on Australia in the other one. In fact, India was expected to take England in the semifinal however South Africa’s win over Australia changed the course of the tournament.

Thus, India was able to top the points table and they will take on New Zealand, which had finished in the fourth position. In fact, India and England had taken on each other in the league stage in which the latter won by 31 runs.

India will be favorites against New Zealand.

India will enter the contest against New Zealand as overwhelming favorites but the Kiwis have the skills to surprise Virat Kohli‘s team. Meanwhile, the second semifinal would be between two arch-rivals England and Australia.

Faf du Plessis stated that India would be happy after South Africa’s win over Australia as New Zealand have lost their last three matches.

“I think India would be really happy that we won today. New Zealand’s form has dipped in the last three games, so I would probably say an India-England final. I think India and Australia have played the big games really well, so I would back one of them at the biggest stage of all,” du Plessis said after Saturday’s game.

On the other hand, South Africa came up with disappointing performance as they could win only three matches out of the eight games they played. The Proteas lost five of their matches with one game ending in no result to finish at the seventh position in the points table.

South Africa was not up to the mark.

“We have played inconsistent cricket. We guys need to lift the team and win the games on their own. We weren’t at our best,” said the Proteas skipper.

South Africa was not up to the mark and they had to pay the price for their mundane performance. Meanwhile, it is all about having two good days for India, New Zealand, Australia, and England to lift the trophy.
