India’s dominant run in the ICC World Cup 2019 continues as they knock out West Indies from the contention of a top-four place beating them by 125 runs. Veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh showered praise on another great show by the Men in Blues at the Old Trafford in Manchester.

It was the talismanic run-scorer Virat Kohli who led the team from the front after losing Rohit Sharma early. He and KL Rahul began the revival, and in the process, Kohli brought his 20000 international runs. Things were going smooth for India when West Indies bounced back with three quick wickets to have India at 140 for four. Kohli went onto reach his fourth back-to-back half-century but once again failed to convert it to a big century. Although he got leaving India in dire trouble, MS Dhoni (56*) and Hardik Pandya (46) ensured the bowlers have something to bowl at.

Things looked easy from West Indies perspective at the break, but Mohammed Shami used his opportunities to great effect to change the course of the game. He removed Chris Gayle and Shai Hope within seven overs to nullify the advantage West Indies at the end of India’s innings. The spinners and Jasprit Bumrah dominated the middle overs before Shami came back to finish things off in style.

Soon after the game, Harbhajan Singh heaped praise on the whole team for putting in a complete effort. He also congratulated India for being the second team to book the semifinal berth after Australia.
