Match 19 of the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019 with see host England go up against West Indies on June 14 (Friday) at the Rose Bowl in Southampton. With rain ruling out most of the games, both the teams will have their eye on the weather forecast leading to the game.

England-West Indies eye a win at rain-prone Southampton

England suffered a surprising loss against Pakistan before coming back against Bangladesh with a 106-run convincing win. The opponents have tried to outplay the English openers with spin, but Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow have done their homework well. Roy put out a stunning effort against the Tigers playing a 153-run knock. Meanwhile, the management may consider playing Moeen Ali in place of doubtful Mark Wood considering that West Indies have a lot of left-handed batsmen in their ranks. Besides, all eyes will be on young fast bowler Jofra Archer who will be playing against his native country for the first time ever.

On the other hand, West Indies’ batters need to apply themselves and back their bowlers who have done relatively well so far in the tournament. The likes of Sheldon Cottrell, Oshane Thomas, Jason Holder, and Andre Russell have picked early wickets but has lacked support from the batters. The likes of Shai Hope and Chris Gayle need to raise their game against a strong England side.

Weather Forecast

Rains have been constant in this ICC World Cup 2019 and this game is no different. However, the day will be far from a washout. A couple of showers are expected to be around, but the rain will generally be on the lighter side and not as persistent as what occurred in Nottingham.

Meanwhile, it will be chilly in Southampton with temperatures hovering around 15 degrees Celsius with a highest of 17 degrees Celsius. Given there will be rain around and clouds – winning the toss and bowling will be the obvious choice for the captains of both England and West Indies.
