India who suffered their first defeat of the ICC World Cup 2019 will look to bounce back when they go up against Bangladesh on July 2 (Tuesday) at Edgbaston in Birmingham. As they gear up for the match, former England skipper Michael Vaughan has taken a sly dig at India over their lack of intent during the game against England.

Vaughan slams India over lack of intent

West Indies had put up a spirited effort before going down against Sri Lanka in a dead-rubber by 23 runs. Chasing a mammoth total of 339 runs set by Dimuth Karunaratne & Co, the team from the Caribbean Island fought till the last ball. Nicholas Pooran led the chase partnering Fabian Allen had to sink down in front of Lasith Malinga’s brilliance. Pooran reached his first ODI century scoring 118 runs while Allen contributed with 51 runs off just 32 deliveries.

Impressed with West Indies fighting instinct, sports broadcaster Harsha Bhogle heaped praise on their whole team. He took to Twitter to hail Jason Holder & Co for showing the intent while the target looked beyond their each.

“Got to love the West Indies. Even when the target is seemingly beyond reach, they keep going for it,” Bhogle had tweeted after the game between West Indies and Sri Lanka.

Soon after the tweet, Michael Vaughan took a dig at India over their lack of intent during the match against England. MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav showed no urge in the last five overs while they needed 71 runs. Despite being a daunting task, it was not impossible considering the flat wicket and short boundaries. India managed to score only three boundaries and one six during the last five overs which attracted a lot of criticism after the match and Vaughan was a new addition to it.

“Unlike India !!!” Vaughan took a dig at India while reply to the tweet.
