ICC World Cup 2019: Shakib Al Hasan Is The Player Of The Tournament Thus Far - Michael Hussey

Shakib Al Hasan has been in sublime form in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019. The World number one all-rounder has thus far scored 476 in the six innings of the tournament. Furthermore, he has scalped 10 wickets in as many innings. Thus, Shakib Al Hasan has been right on the money in the ongoing multi-team tournament. Consequently, former Australian batsman, Michael Hussey stated that Shakib Al Hasan has been the player of the tournament thus far.

Hasan has been in great form and he would like to continue the same touch in the remaining matches for the Tigers. Bangladesh needs to win their remaining two matches to stay in contention for the semi-finals of the mega event. Hence, Shakib Al Hasan role is going to be really important.

The southpaw batsman has scored three fifties and two centuries in the World Cup 2019. Hasan had scalped a five-wicket haul and had scored a fifty against Afghanistan in his team’s last win.

“He is probably being the player of the tournament so far and I don’t think anyone can dispute that. He has been instrumental in putting Bangladesh in the fifth position and a possible fourth,” said Hussey in the post-match analysis.

In fact, Shakib Al Hasan had also become the fastest to 6000 ODI runs and 250 wickets. Hence, there is no doubt that Hasan is one of the best all-rounders to have embraced the game. The southpaw all-rounder has been a consistent performer for Bangladesh.

“I think he is in the conversation with his contemporaries without a doubt. Those numbers are incredible.” said the former Australian.

“Over the course of his career he has been very underrated but given the numbers, once Shakib finishes his career he going to go down as one of the greats and certainly the greatest player to have played for Bangladesh,” concluded Hussey.

Shakib Al Hasan is having a dream World Cup and he would like to continue his good form going. The all-rounder has done a tremendous job for Bangladesh. The Tigers will play their next match against India at Edgbaston, Birmingham on 2nd July.
