India’s middle-order batsman Kedar Jadhav was ruled out of the Indian Premier League after he suffered a shoulder injury. Consequently, it was a big blow for the India National Cricket Team ahead of the World Cup 2019. In fact, Jadhav is expected to regain full fitness ahead of the marquee event in England and Wales.

Furthermore, the selectors have also stated that they are going to hold the position of the all-rounder. Jadhav has done a good job with the bat and he was also able to bowl crucial overs with a fine economy rate. Moreover, he can provide pivotal breakthroughs for the Indian team. Thus, it could be a big blow for the Virat Kohli’s team if he fails to regain full fitness.

Consequently, we take a look at three players who could replace Kedar provided he is not fit for the World Cup.

Three Replacements for Kedar Jadhav.

Ambati Rayudu

Ambati Rayudu isn’t in the best of forms in the ongoing Indian Premier League and he had to pay a hefty price for it. In fact, Rayudu was deemed to be India’s number four in the last eight months, however, selectors turned their back on him when they selected India’s World Cup squad. If there is one unlucky player who deserved to be in the World Cup squad and could not get a place, it has to be Rayudu.

The right-hander has thus far scored 281 runs in the 16 matches of the IPL 2019 at an average of 25.55 and he would like to turn the tables if he gets a chance in the World Cup squad.

Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant has impressed one and all with his pyrotechnics. Pant can catapult his attack on the opposition from the get-go and he likes to hit the ground running. The southpaw batsman could be an X-factor for the team as he has the skills to get runs at a healthy strike rate. However, Pant will like to add more maturity to his game as he still lacks finishing abilities. In fact, it should also be noted that Pant doesn’t have experience under his belt and he will improve with time.

The pugnacious batsman scored 488 runs in the 16 matches of the IPL for Delhi Capitals. Thus, he would have the benefit of being in form. Hence, Pant can replace Kedar Jadhav.

Shreyas Iyer

Delhi Capitals skipper Shreyas Iyer led his team with aplomb. Iyer has shown that he can bat with a calm head and he has the skills to build an innings. The right-hander is in good form and he could be a perfect replacement for Kedar Jadhav.

Shreyas Iyer scored 463 runs at an average of 30.87 in the 16 matches he played in the IPL. Furthermore, Iyer has the game to change gears according to the situation of the match. The right-hander will like to grab his opportunity if he is presented with one. The Mumbai-based batsman has scored 210 runs in the five innings he played for India at an average of 42. However, why he was not given more chances is a surprising fact.
