ICC World Cup 2019: Twitter Reacts as England Cruises to Convincing Win Against Bangladesh
Updated - 09 Jun 2019, 06:47 PM
England proved to be too good for Bangladesh as they obliterated the Tigers by a gargantuan margin of 106 runs. The hosts posted a mammoth total of 386 runs after they were put into bat by Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza. England openers gave a flying start to their team as they added 128 runs for the opening stand.
Jonny Bairstow scored a fine knock of 51 runs before his top edge was taken by Mehidy Hasan. Meanwhile, Jason Roy was able to come up with his best performance. The right-hander was able to hit the ground running and Roy scored a fine knock of 153 runs from 121 balls. The blistering knock included 14 fours and five maximums in his knock.
England comes up with a dominant performance.
Roy smashed Mehidy for three consecutive sixes in the 35th over. However, when the right-hander tried to go for the fourth one, he got a leading edge which was taken by Mashrafe Mortaza. But Roy had already put his team’s noses in front by then as England had amassed 235 runs in 35 overs.
Jos Buttler got off to a sedate start but soon changed gears like he always does. The talisman batsman scored 64 runs from 44 balls with the help of two fours and four sixes. Chris Woakes and Liam Plunkett added the finishing touches to England’s innings as they scored 18 and 27 runs respectively.
On the other hand, Bangladesh could not get off to a good start as Jofra Archer sent back Soumya Sarkar with a beauty. However, Shakib Al Hasan showed resistance from Bangladesh. The southpaw batsman made most of his experience to play a fine knock of 121 runs from 119 balls. Mushfifur Rahim scored 44 runs but Bangladesh was never in the contest.
However, Bangladesh always had too many to chase and the target looked beyond them throughout the whole innings.
Here is how Twitter reacted to England’s comprehensive win:

The ball from Jofra Archer which bowled Soumya Sarkar hit the boundary ropes on the full. ?
Heard plenty of times the legend of Jeff Thomson doing the same at the WACA. #ENGvBAN #CWC19 #WeAreEngland— Deepu Narayanan (@deeputalks) June 8, 2019
It’ll be very hard to defeat England when they bat first….unless the conditions are offering exaggerated lateral movement to pacers. They should bat first every time they win the toss…. #CWC19 #EngvBan
