Some outrageous hitting from Jason Roy and Jos Buttler propelled England to 386 runs in match 12 of the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019 against Bangladesh at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff.
England openers put up a good total
England openers – Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow got off to an outstanding start after Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza won the toss and opted to field first. It was quite evident that Mortaza will start with spin as Shakib al Hasan purchased some grip from the wicket. However, Roy has found out the formula to tackle spin and the way he drove Shakib off the covers and then pulled him off the mid-wickets showed that he has put the hard work after the South Africa match.

Jason Roy showcased his penchant for shot-making with a glorious lofted stroke down the ground and then reached his 50 with a steer off Saifuddin. Jonny Bairstow also completed his half-century but departed soon off a sharp catch from Mehidy Hasan at the covers. However, Roy carnage continues at Cardiff as he reached the three-figure mark in style and while celebrating accidentally took down the umpire. He continued his rampage hitting a flurry of sixes all over the ground.
Bangladesh bounced back with two quick wickets to have England at 235 for three. Mohammad Saifuddin got rid of Root while Mehidy Hasan finally got Jason Roy out after a 153-run knock. Once Roy went back, last-match centurion Jos Buttler took over the baton and absolutely murdered the Bangladesh bowling. He scored a quickfire fifty to set the stage for skipper Eoin Morgan and Ben Stokes in the last five to finish things on a high.

But Bangladesh bounced back in style in the last few overs to pick three wickets in quick successions to contain the free flow of runs. The Bangladesh bowlers removed both the set batsman and then removed Ben Stokes to have England at 341 for six. But some late blows from Liam Plunkett and Chris Woakes helped the host post 386 runs at the end of 50 overs.
Twitter Reactions
England is playing a completely different brand of cricket. Their relentlessness when it comes to hitting is scary…batting first gives them more teeth. #CWC19 #EngvBan

In my position as man on sofa watching England, not for the first time I’m thinking that a player of Jason Roy’s prodigious talent must be able to transfer those skills to test cricket. If Warner can, Roy should.
