West Indies southpaw batsman Oshane Thomas knocked down the zing bails with his bat. The left-hander went for the wild swing against Mustafizur Rahman but could not get the connection he was looking for. Thomas completed his swing and subsequently hit the stumps his bat after completing the shot.
The decision went to the third umpire who ruled the decision in favour of the batting team as Thomas had completed his shot and he was not hit-wicket. Meanwhile, West Indies have posted a competitive score of 321 runs after Mashrafe Mortaza won the toss and decided to bowl first.
West Indies could not get off to a good start as they lost the big wicket of Chris Gayle early. The talisman left-hander was dismissed for a duck after facing 13 deliveries. Gayle was not let off the hook in the initial phase of the innings.
However, Windies were able to bounce back through the partnership of Evin Lewis and Shai Hope. Both the batsman took their time in the initial phase but they were soon able to get going. Lewis scored a fine knock of 70 runs from 67 balls with the help of six fours and two sixes.
Shai Hope and Evin Lewis added a fine alliance of 116 runs for the second wicket partnership. Hope scored a sublime knock of 96 runs from 121 balls with the help of four fours and one six.
Shimron Hetmyer provided the much-needed momentum in the innings as the southpaw batsman smashed 50 runs from 26 balls with the help of four fours and three sixes. However, the left-hander was dismissed right after completing his fifty.
Jason Holder provided the finishing touches as the Windies skipper clobbered 33 runs from 15 balls. Mohammad Saifuddin and Mustafizur Rahman scalped three wickets each whereas Shakib Al Hasan took two wickets.
