The 36-year-old India National Cricket Team off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin broke a massive record of the legendary spinner Anil Kumble in the first Test of the two-match series against Kraigg Brathwaite-led West Indies National Cricket Team on July 12 at the Windsor Park, Roseau, Dominica.
Ravichandran Ashwin made his way back to India’s playing XI after missing out on the team at the ICC World Test Championship Final against Australia National Cricket Team last month. Notably, Ashwin’s exclusion was heavily criticized by fans and experts and many felt his absence was one of the key reasons behind India’s defeat in yet another ICC event.

Meanwhile, Ashwin made his presence felt in the 13th over itself as he cleaned up Tagenarine Chanderpaul with a peach of delivery on the 5th ball of the over. Tagenarine Chanderpaul scored 12 runs off 44 balls, before getting dismissed.
Ashwin became the first-ever Indian to dismiss both father and son in the purest format of the game as he had earlier dismissed Shivnarine Chanderpaul as well. Overall, he became just the 5th bowler to achieve the feat after Ian Botham, Mitchell Starc, Wasim Akram, and Simon Harmer.
