Indian Cricket team wrist-spinner, Kuldeep Yadav expects tough competition from the debutants Afghanistan Cricket team when both the teams square off in Bengaluru on June 14 for a one-off Test.

Meanwhile, this will be Afghanistan’s first Test since earning the status last year in June.

Afghanistan have named a total of four spinners in the squad dominated by the slow bowlers led by Rashid Khan. They also have Mujeeb Ur Rahman in their ranks, who did a notable job in the IPL.

At Bengaluru, the primary contest will be between the spinners of India and Afghanistan and the team whose turners will perform well will hold an upper hand.

Kuldeep feels the competition will be tough between the two teams when they face each other.

Rashid is the best spinner in T20s and has played well for all the teams [in the franchise-based leagues]. It is good to see such comparisons because he has also done really well in the shorter format. So, the competition will be tough. Hopefully, I will be able to perform for India and he, too, will give his best for Afghanistan,” Kuldeep told Sportstar.

An even contest

The left-arm wrist-spinner also admitted it would be an evenly-poised contest due to the spin quality.

He also admitted he is looking forward to some intense competition in the third week of June.

This is the first Test for Afghanistan and I am confident that it will be a good game. They have good spinners, so it will be an even contest. I am looking forward to some intense competition,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, Ajinkya Rahane-led India will go in as favourites due to experience cricketers in their ranks.
