India’s women team stars Mithali Raj and Harmanpreet Kaur are all set to reap the rewards for their scintillating performances in the recently-concluded World Cup where India finished runners-up. India captain Mithali Raj was India’s highest run-getter and second-highest in the overall list, finishing the tournament with 409 runs in 9 matches with the help of 3 fifties and one century.

On the other hand, Harmanpreet Kaur began the tournament on an average note before hitting the top gear when it mattered the most. She scored 60 in the do-or-die clash against New Zealand before hitting a stunning 115-ball 171 against Australia in the semifinal. She continued her red-hot form in the final too, scoring 51 but unfortunately her innings went in vain as India  lost the match against England by 9 runs.

The tournament definitely ended in a heartbreaking manner for the duo but they are now reaping the rewards for their exceptional display.

According to Gulf News, a number of film production houses are already exploring the possibility of making a biopic on Mithali Raj while the India Inc. are looking at the India captain and Harmanpreet as their brand ambassadors. The report claimed that that a production house approached Medallin Sports, which handles portfolio of the two cricketers, to discuss the possibilities of a biopic on Raj.

“We have started to receive a range of queries on the duo over the last fortnight or so. In Mithali’s case, a publishing house has approached us for the rights of an autobiography of her after a picture of her reading a book to calm her nerves before going out to bat became viral. A number of corporate houses, ranging from two-wheelers, FMCGs to real estate companies meanwhile are interested in taking them on board as brand ambassadors,” Varun Chopra, the co-founder of Medallin Sports, told Gulf News.

Chopra further said that playing in the Big Bash League has helped Harmanpreet to improve her game.

“A key factor behind Kaur’s growth as a cricketer was her stint in the T20 Big Bash for women in Australia last year. The T20 leagues help players develop that special ability to soak in the pressure — something which the Indian team was found wanting in the final overs at The Lords,” said Chopra.
