Deepak Malik shone for India, as he played an innings of 79 off 71 to lead the team to victory. His innings included a total of eight fours. He was awarded Man of the Match award for his match-winning innings.
He was well supported by Venkatesh Rao, who scored 64 off 55 before being dismissed. Ajay Kumar too played great innings of 47*. A combined effort from batsmen saw team India going past team India’s total easily.
It was team India’s second win in the tournament. Their first game of the tournament was a washed out affair against Australia. In the second contest, the Men in Blue chased down a huge total of 359 against Sri Lanka in just 32 overs to win the first match. In that game as well, Deepak Malik shone by playing an innings of 179 off 102.
Team India will now face Bangladesh in next contest today (January 13) in UAE.
Team India is playing all it’s contests in UAE after the Indian Government didn’t permit the players to travel to Pakistan. India is currently ranked second in the points table with four points.
