Former Indian cricketer, Zaheer Khan feels India still don’t have the clarity on their best playing XI ahead of the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales. Meanwhile, team India is currently playing the five-match ODI series against the Windies. The scoreline, however, reads 1-1 after three games, as the fourth ODI is underway in Mumbai.
Moreover, Zaheer Khan reckons the Indian team is not out there with their best lineup yet. They still are in a dilemma whom to pick up and who do not. Meanwhile, India is in search of fit and consistent players who will deliver either way in the next year’s triumph.
“I dont think the best line up, the best playing XI, they dont still have the clarity. That’s why this trial is also going on; they are still figuring out their option. But the key questions have remained the same, you know something which is a concern. If you are not getting the right kind of fit, right kind of players to achieve that balance is understandable. You know that you dont have the options.” Zaheer Khan said.
For now, India has a lot of options, but the things are not going in their way. Virat Kohli was the lone batsman who has been consistent in the ongoing series scoring three consecutive centuries. The hosts are facing some difficulties with their middle-order as well. Furthermore, Zaheer Khan also says it is not possible that all the things will go in their way.
“I think here the options are plenty; it’s just that in terms of the processes what happens when things are not going your way. When the things are going your way is the typical classic case, where your fast bowlers take early wickets and then you have a spin in the middle overs gives you three wickets, and the opponents are completely out of the game.” Zaheer Khan added.
Meanwhile, India will tour to Australia this year and later to New Zealand in the next year. However, they will get another eight ODI matches to play before the 2019 World Cup.
