Australia’s spinner Adam Zampa got the big fish in his spin web as he was able to bamboozle Virat Kohli with a googly. Kohli had smashed Zampa for two consecutive fours but could not pick the wrong one from the leg-spinner. The talisman was cleaned up by Zampa and it was a big wicket for the visitors. Kohli scored 123 runs off just 95 balls with the help of 16 fours and one six. Thus, it was a huge wicket for Australia as Kohli was looking good to get his team over the line.
Meanwhile, Adam Zampa was able to scalp three wickets. Zampa was also able to take the big wicket of MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav. Hence, the leg-spinner played a key role in Australia’s triumph of 32 runs in the third ODI at Ranchi.
Consequently, Australia was able to stay afloat in the five-match series. The visitors posted a par score of 313 runs after Kohli won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Usman Khawaja and Aaron Finch played brilliant knocks of 104 and 93 respectively to hit the ground running for Australia. Glenn Maxwell scored a quickfire 31-ball 47 whereas Kuldeep Yadav took three wickets for India.
On the other hand, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli added 59 runs for the fourth wicket partnership. However, the former skipper was yorked by Adam Zampa after the in-form batsman scored 26 runs.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli brought his piece de resistance as he scored his 41st ODI century. Kohli changed gears after Dhoni’s dismissal and went on to put on an exhibition of fine shots. The talisman batsman scored 16 fours and one six for his knock of 123 runs off just 95 balls.
Kohli was going strong but Adam Zampa was able to find the gap between the bat and pad. The fourth ODI will take place at Mohali on 10th March.
