Opting to bat first, Sharma and Dhawan put the New Zealand bowlers under pressure. The men in blues stormed to 100 runs in the 18th over as Rohit was the first to reach the fifty run mark. Soon after that, Dhawan also reached his half-century in the 21 st over with two consecutive boundaries. However, New Zealand fought back with two back to back wickets to dismiss both the openers.
