The dream run of form continued for Indian National Cricket Team In New Zealand as well. They have outsmarted Kiwis players comfortably in every department of the game to seal the first ODI of the 5-match ODI series. The collective bowling effort and the top-notch batting show saw them winning the game with 8 wickets left in the bank. Meanwhile, the Kiwis skipper Kane Williamson speaks on the loss.

Initially, it was the brilliant show of Indian fast bowlers, which kept Indian on the driver seat. Mohammad Shami started things brilliantly while Kuldeep Yadav-Yuzvendra Chahal combo dented Kiwis side despite Kane Williamson’s gritty half-century. In reply, Shikhar Dhawan guided India with an unbeaten 74*.

India was on top of their game – Kane Williamson

The Kiwis skipper felt that they have misjudged the track that was on offer. He felt that anything close to 250 would have been a good contest, as he feels that his bowlers have bowled with an intent. Kane believes that they will come up with a good show in the second ODI.

Further, he went on to add saying that India has displayed top-notch cricket throughout the game. He hailed the consistency of Indian bowlers, especially, the slow bowlers. Williamson also credits Indian batting lineup for the victory.

”Certainly wasn’t our best effort. India, we expected them to be good and they really were on top of the game. The surface wasn’t as traditional as we thought it to be. India bowled well, particularly the lengths hit by their slower bowlers were really good. Getting to just 150ish on a pitch where 250-plus was needed, doesn’t help,” Kane Williamson quoted in post-match presentation.

”I think we didn’t adjust well enough to the surface, don’t think it was the lack of match practice that cost us. Their whole bowling unit contributed well and they need credit for that. We also did well with the ball, showed enough intent and will hope to take those things forward,” he added.

Well, as Kane Williamson said, India was at their best during the entire game. Now, the focus will be on the second ODI, in which, New Zealand would like to give their all, as the loss might give the visitors a great chance of bagging the series.

Well, it was a brilliant victory for Indian National Cricket Team in improving their record in New Zealand. The Indian management would be pretty pleased with the performance of the boys and would like to continue in the remaining ODI games as well.
