Sachin Tendulkar is my favourite cricketer – Kane Williamson

When the interviewer asked Williamson to name his favourite cricketer, he said, “Sachin Tendulkar”. Ironically, Tendulkar was part of the Test in which Williamson had made his Test debut in Ahmedabad in 2010. The New Zealander had hit a hundred in his first Test, however, it was Harbhajan Singh’s century which had stolen the limelight in that drawn game.

Apart from Sachin Tendulkar, Kane Williamson revealed that he would like to bat with Ricky Ponting when he was asked to pick a yesteryear player to play with. When asked to pick his favourite Rugby player, he chose the former skipper of New Zealand, Richie McCaw.

Kane Williamson has been Kiwis greatest batsman, as far as the stats are concerned. Williamson has scored 5815 runs in 69 Tests at an average of 51.92. He has 19 hundreds and 28 fifties in his career. Though Fleming, McCullum and Taylor have higher aggregates, he is way ahead, as far as the average is concerned.

Even as a skipper, Kane Williamson has been fantastic for Kiwis. Recently, he became the first captain of the Black Caps in nearly five decades to win an away series against Pakistan and the skipper himself played a key role in that win by scripting a terrific hundred.

I just love what I script. Over the years, Cricket has been my passion and crisping articles on it gives me an immense pleasure...Cheers...!!!
