India dominated the first innings of the first One Day International against New Zealand. The hosts were skittled out for a paltry score of 157 runs. Mohammed Shami scalped three wickets and Kuldeep Yadav scalped four wickets each whereas Yuzvendra Chahal took two wickets. Kedar Jadhav took one wicket to bundle out the hosts.

Meanwhile, New Zealand captain Kane Williamson won the toss and decided to bat first. Williamson was the lone warrior for the side as he scored 64 runs off 81 balls. However, the talisman also succumbed to pressure.

India has put their noses in front.

On the other hand, Mohammed Shami gave a perfect start to the side. Shami was successful in sending back both the Kiwis openers, Martin Guptill and Colin Munro cheaply. Guptill chopped the ball back on to the stumps whereas Shami found the gap between Munro’s bat and pad to hit the top of off stump.

Yuzvendra Chahal came up with two good low catches of his own bowling to send back Ross Taylor and Tom Latham. Chahal was able to bamboozle both the batsmen in the air and they made the mistake of hitting the ball in the air.

Kuldeep Yadav took a stunner at mid-wicket to send back Henry Nicholls. In fact, India could have had the wicket of Kane Williamson had Kedar Jadhav held on to his catch at deep fine leg.

Furthermore, Shikhar Dhawan fluffed one more chance when he dropped Tim Southee at mid-off. However, the missed chances didn’t cost the Indian team much as their bowlers continued to breathe down the neck of the host’s batsmen.

Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the Indian bowlers as he got rid of Kane Williamson. The mystery chinaman bowler scalped four wickets and didn’t allow New Zealand lower order to settle into the crease.
