India’s all-rounder Vijay Shankar was able to hit a direct hit from the long-on region to dismiss Ross Taylor. Shankar’s throw was right on the money as he was able to hit the bullseye when Taylor was returning back for the second run. New Zealand has posted 158 runs after their skipper Kane Williamson won the toss and decided to bat first.

Meanwhile, Vijay Shankar had played a good knock of 28 runs in the first T20I. The right-hander had timed the ball to perfection in the first match as he was able to hit the ground running.

Furthermore, the all-rounder had scored a fighting knock of 45 runs in the final ODI against New Zealand when India was behind the eighth-ball. He had stitched an imperative alliance of 98 runs with Ambati Rayudu.

In fact, New Zealand had their backs against the wall as they were tottering at 50-4. However, Colin de Grandhomme was able to rescue his team out of the troubled waters. The combative right-hander completed his maiden T20I fifty.

Grandhomme catapulted his attack on the Indian bowlers from the get-go. The right-hander completed his fifty in 27 balls and smote four sixes and one boundary in his blistering knock.

Meanwhile, Krunal Pandya was the pick of the Indian bowlers as the southpaw spinner scalped three wickets. Furthermore, he conceded only 28 runs in his four overs.

Pandya didn’t let the batsmen off the hook as he got two leg-before dismissals. Khaleel Ahmed scalped two wickets in his final over. Moreover, the rookie pacer gave away only 27 runs in his four overs quota.

Both sides remained unaltered after New Zealand won the first T20I by a massive margin of 80 runs. Indian openers have added 42 runs in the first five overs.
