Team India skipper Virat Kohli admitted that they didn’t expect to finish the second Test within three days to seal the two-match Test series 2-0.

Meanwhile, India chased down the target within 16 overs with KL Rahul and Prithvi Shaw finishing the proceedings on 33 runs each. As a result, the hosts sweep of Windies again within three days to seal the two-match Test series.

Umesh Yadav bagged four wickets while Ravindra Jadeja chipped in with three to set a target of 72 runs. Umesh leads the team out of the park as he ends with 10 for 133. Nothing from the openers, the middle-order batsmen threw it away and India were never in trouble after taking that handy lead. Sunil Ambris and Shai Hope managed to resist for a while as skittled Windies within two sessions.

Previously, India had a handy lead against a low-on-confident batting line-up but temperamental issues of Windies batsmen again came to the fore with some disappointing strokeplay on display. It all started with Kraigg Brathwaite clipping an innocuous Umesh Yadav delivery on the pads to the ‘keeper.

Kieran Powell struggled for nine deliveries before falling to Ashwin when he edged one to Ajinkya Rahane at first slip. At 6 for 2, Windies were in trouble and needed something special from a shaky middle-order.
Furthermore, twin strikes in the 27th over – as the pacer went past the defence of Chase and Shane Dowrich – to pin Windies on the mat at 70 for 6. However, Windies lost the plot in the first session after they helped India extend the lead despite losing early wickets.

We didn’t expect to finish in three days

Virat Kohli admitted that they didn’t expect to finish the game to finish so early. He also admitted that they have played good cricket and deserved to win.

“We didn’t expect it to finish in three days in the morning. WI played really well and getting 56 runs was a bonus after the situation we got ourselves into. At home where we understand the conditions very well, we know how to put the opposition under pressure. We were really good today and deserve to win,” Kohli said after the game

Virat Kohli also lauded the three youngsters in the squad and admitted that they have a problem of plenty now.

“If you look at the three guys who’ve come in -Vihari in England, Prithvi getting the MoS is very special. Shardul broke down in the first spell and Umesh deserves what he’s achieved in this game. I am pleased to see how he’s stepped up for us in the absence of Shami and after Shardul got injured. He keeps giving more than 100 percent everytime. We have a problem of plenty now, Umesh here, the three bowlers who played in England and it is a headache we have. But I am pleased to see these guys. We applied ourselves in India with the bat much better and we’d like to take that ahead as well,” Virat Kohli concluded
