It has been a great first day at the office for Prithvi Shaw. He got all the green tick marks on the first day to cherish the moments for a long time. The young Prithvi Shaw batted his heart out at Rajkot to put Windies chase the leather more often than not. Meanwhile, Sanjay Manjrekar feels Prithvi Shaw is the material for overseas tours as well.

Indian openers fared pretty poorly on the English tour thus leaving all the burden on the middle-order batsman. They never really stood for the team thus making BCCI selectors search for the new options to take up the role.

Sanjay Manjrekar believes Prithvi Shaw is the one for Overseas:

Prithvi Shaw impressed one and all with his stunning knock at Rajkot. It was a stroke-filled knock that put the hosts on the top of the game. During the course, he received accolades from the greats of the game for his brilliant technique while playing the ball.

Prithvi Shaw smokes 134 against Windies:

The right-handed batsman, who is making his debut for India as the 293rd Test player was top-notch in his approach. On the second ball of the day, he smashed a back foot punch to open his account for India.

Then, he made his way to fifty and then carried it to mark his debut match with a sterling century. He looked all set to record something big but unfortunately, handed a reverse cup catch to Devendra Bishoo to walk back to the hut.

In one of those, the classic commentator Sanjay Manjrekar quoted that Prithvi Shaw is quite brilliant on his back foot and plays under the eyes. He feels that those two things would make him the perfect candidate for the overseas tours.

Digging into Sanjay Manjrekar’s tweet, it read ”From an overseas point of view. Shaw has a couple of things going for him. Strong back-foot player and plays the ball under his eyes.”
