India vs Windies 2018: Twitter Reacts as Team India Announces ODI squad

Finally, the wait is over as BCCI announced their squad for the first couple of ODI matches of India vs Windies 2018. The regular Indian skipper Virat Kohli is back to lead the team again while Rohit Sharma will take the vice-captain duty. Meanwhile, Dinesh Karthik is unfortunate to get the axe, as Rishabh Pant earned his maiden ODI call-up.

Surprisingly, India announced strong squad despite Windies sending their second string side. Perhaps, BCCI doesn’t want to take the risk, as Windies team has always been the tough nuts in limited overs format of the game.

Initially, it was expected the senior players will get the rest in order to be fresh for the tour to Australia. However, it wasn’t the case, as selectors decided to take on the first two games of the series with their full strength team.

Rishabh Pant earns maiden ODI call-up:

Meanwhile, the heroics in red-ball format paved way for Rishabh Pant to receive the maiden call-up in the 5o-over format of the game. The TamilNadu wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik is unfortunate to miss out.

Kedar Jadhav is another individual, who is out from the team due to his hamstring issues. Apart from a couple of exclusions, BCCI retained the remaining ODI squad that played Asia Cup 2018.

Ambati Rayudu, who performed well retain his place alongside Manish Pandey, who got only one game. Ravindra Jadeja also got the ticket while Shardul Thakur gets the recall alongside Khaleel Ahmed.

All in all, BCCI announced a strong squad by covering all the bases. India will take on Windies in the ODI series starting on October 21st at Guwahati.

It would be exciting to see where Rishabh Pant bats. With KL Rahul already waiting for his chance in the wings, the top three goes out of question for Pant. If he gets picked, he would probably bat at six or seven.

Pant's selection will make all the news but the other factor is KJ injury ensuring there's nobody in the top six who can bowl any regularly again.
