India’s fast bowler Umesh Yadav has replaced injured Shardul Thakur for the first two ODIs against the Windies. Shardul Thakur had suffered a hamstring injury after bowling just ten balls in his debut Test match. Therefore, he could not bowl in the second Test match after suffering the blow. Meanwhile, Umesh Yadav was able to scalp ten wickets for the first time in the red ball version.

Thus, Umesh Yadav was rewarded for his good show in the second Test. Yadav had scalped his best bowling figures of 6-88 in the first innings. Furthermore, he backed it with another four-wicket haul in the second dig. Consequently, Yadav was able to come up with his best bowling performance. He was also awarded the Man of the match award.

In fact, Umesh Yadav had carried the burden of the sole fast bowler as Shardul Thakur was injured in the initial stages of the match. Hence, the pacer had to show great stamina to bowl the bulk of the overs.

Meanwhile, India will take on Windies in the first One-Dayer at Guwahati on October 21 whereas the second match will take on October 24. The squad for the remaining three One Day Internationals and three-match T20I series will be announced later by the BCCI.
