It doesn’t matter what, if Virat Kohli stays in the team somewhere or the other, the record will be waiting for him to surpass. Much to the same, the flamboyant batsman is on the verge of breaking yet another record in the upcoming Test series against the Windies. Meanwhile, Mohammed Azharuddin will be the worried man to go one place down on the record list.
Virat Kohli had already got a solid record against the Windies in the Test matches. To add yet another feather to it, he is knocking the doors of a new one to surpass Mohammed Azharuddin on the list of highest run-scorers against the Windies.
Virat Kohli has scored 502 runs against the Windies:
The Indian skipper has been brilliant against the Windies bowlers in the red-ball cricket. He knocked a blistering tally of 502 runs in just ten matches at a batting average of 38.61. In his last knock, he surpassed former captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni(474) as well.
Ahead of Virat Kohli, Mohammed Azharuddin is standing on the thick ice with 539 runs to his account. Perhaps, with the form Virat Kohli is carrying, one might see the Indian skipper achieving the record in the first test itself.
Coming to the toppers of the list, Sunil Gavaskar once again holds a grand record to his name with 2746 runs while the WALL, Rahul Dravid who has scored 1978 runs. VVS Laxman of Hyderabad holds the third spot with 1715 runs against the Windies.
However, it would be intriguing to watch whether Virat Kohli surpasses the record right in his first innings or not. Meanwhile, it is his return to the game after being rested for the recently-concluded Asia Cup 2018.
