Indian cricketers getting the stick from their own countrymen while having a feud with overseas cricketer is very rare. The Indian fans are known for backing their beloved cricket stars to the hilt. However, veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh had to face the heat from the Indian fans on Wednesday for his distasteful tweet on Adam Gilchrist.

It all started when a fan took to Twitter to post a clip of Harbhajan Singh’s historic hat-trick against Australia in the 2001 Kolkata Test. Harbhajan had famously dismissed Ricky Ponting, Adam Gilchrist and Shane Warne to become the first Indian to claim a Test hat-trick. Upon seeing the video, Gilchrist pointed out the fact that he was wrongly given out by the umpire. The legendary cricketer rued not having DRS at that time as he simply tweeted: “No DRS” with a crying emoji next to it.

Gilchrist had tweeted it on September 1. Three days later on September 4, Harbhajan Singh took to Twitter to slam Gilchrist out of the blue. The legendary spinner put up a strongly-worded message as he expressed his displeasure over Gilchrist’s tweet.

“U think u would have survived for long if not first ball ? Stop crying over these things mate. Thought u would talk sense after ur playing days.. but few things never change u r the prime example of that. Always crying,” wrote Harbhajan Singh in his bizarre rant.

What followed thereafter must have shocked Harbhajan as he quickly deleted his tweet. The spinner faced the flak from his own fans for the tweet. While some criticised him for not taking Gilchrist’s tweet in the right manner, some reminded him of his record against the legendary wicketkeeper.
