With the dates and venue for next year’s Indian Premier League confirmed, all the eight franchises are geared up to to leave for the tournament within the next one week. The thirteenth edition of the tournament will be played entirely in the UAE due to the alarming coronavirus situation in India.
As far as the full scheduled is concerned, it is not out yet but IPL 2020 will be played from September 19 to November 10. The teams will start leaving for UAE as soon as the August 20 deadline is met. Kolkata Knight Riders are among the teams who will leave for UAE at the earliest.
The two-time champions are reportedly set to depart for UAE on August 20/21. The Kolkata-based outfit will stay at The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal. Kolkata Knight Riders’ co-owner Shah Rukh Khan has invested heavily in UAE’s beach front properties and he has ensured that his team stays in one of the best hotels of the country.
Nestled into 57 acres of lush gardens and shimmering pools, the luxurious hotel is just 20 minutes away from the airport. The hotel overlooks the Grand Canal. The IPL giants has reportedly reserve a major part of the hotel for the upcoming IPL.
The guests can stay at either the rooms or the suites. The players are expected to stay in the rooms. The rooms overlook the garden and the pool. The lavish rooms come with bathroom with separate soaking tub.
The dining area of the hotel is divided into several parts, based on the type of cuisines on offer.
The plush hotel also comes with an expansive, fully-equipped Health Club with natural daylight and floor-to-ceiling windows with olive garden views. The Health Club is open 24 hours a day which will allow the players to avail its services whenever they want. The players can also enjoy the spa services.
The players can also avail spa services at the hotel. The spa centre features a steam room, a Hammam, a hair and beauty salon and 15 treatment rooms offering relaxing massages.
The swimming pool at the centre of the property is one of its biggest attractions.
Kolkata Knight Riders will stay at the hotel for the entire IPL. Once the players and the staff members move inside the bio-secure bubble, they won’t be allowed to move out. As per reports, the hotel service personnel who will cater to the players and support staff have already gone into isolation since they have to “quarantine themselves in the hotel 14 days before the arrival of the team”.
