Former England captain Nasser Hussain paid a heartfelt tribute to MS Dhoni after he called time on his glorious career. “Mein pal do pal ka shaayar hu…..,” said the song which played in the background of MS Dhoni’s retirement showreel. Although, Dhoni at his humble best, might consider himself as ‘pal do pal ka shaayar’, for fans he will always remain a legend of the game. Hearts broke as the 2011 World Cup winning captain announced his retirement via Instagram.
Hussain said that Dhoni was the best finisher in the world and best captain in the limited-overs format. He also acknowledged Dhoni’s brilliant captaincy for CSK in the IPL and added that he always remained calm. Besides these, Nasser Hussain that the Indian cricket team will realise his importance, now that he has retired.
“Quickest gloves in the world, the best finisher in the world and for me the best white-ball captain there has ever been, whether it be for Chennai or for India. The man was so cool, so calm under pressure,” said on Star Sports Connected.
“I think Indian cricket will only realise how good MS Dhoni was now that he has gone. Enjoy your retirement MS.”
MS Dhoni made a big name for himself by making the country proud with his achievements after coming from the cricketing backwaters of Ranchi. He has achieved immense success as a player and also grew up to be one of the most successful captains and achieved almost everything the ICC tournaments had to offer.
Dhoni understood the game well. He knew the strength of the side and backs his players accordingly. He did not takes any kind of frivolous decisions and likes to maintain his calm. It is due to these qualities Dhoni came up as one of the most calm and composed character on the cricket field.
