Delhi Daredevils captain Gautam Gambhir has decided to step down as the leader of the side. Shreyas Iyer has replaced him as the new captain of the team.
The Delhi franchise didn’t have the best of the starts to their IPL campaign. Delhi has lost five matches and has won a solitary contest to find themselves at the bottom of the points table so far. Thus, it took its toll on southpaw eventually.

5. Delhi Daredevils poor start to the season.
Once again, Delhi Daredevils got off to a poor start to the ongoing IPL season. Delhi went on to lose five matches and won a solitary contest to find themselves at the bottom of the points table.

4. Gautam Gambhir poor form with the bat.
Gautam Gambhir started his 2018 IPL campaign with a half-century against KXIP. Unfortunately, the opening batsman was not able to continue his good form.
Gambhir failed to find his timing going in the later matches.
3. Over-reliance on individual performance.
Delhi once again failed to give a whole team effort in the ongoing season. There were some good knocks played by their wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant. No one apart from Pant was able to score runs consistently.

2. Bowlers failed to deliver the goods
Delhi bowlers were on the expensive side. Trent Boult was the stand out bowler, but he lacked support from the other. Mohammed Shami was expensive, and there was no consistency from the spinners as well.
1. Poor selection in the auctions
The team management once again failed to find the perfect combination during the 2018 IPL auctions. There was inexperience in the middle order. Thus, it led to the downfall of the team.
