Mumbai Indians (MI) will look to claim the two points on offer when they square off against a depleted-looking Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) side at the historic Wankhede Stadium on May 16 (Wednesday).

Meanwhile, the performance of both team’s proved to be nothing short of contrasting. While Mumbai started their campaign disastrously, only to bounce back into contention with wins at crucial junctures.

On the other side, Punjab eventually jeopardized a decent start with three consecutive defeats.

Although Mumbai have the confidence by their side, they have lost four out of six games at home. In between these losses, Mumbai defeated two big teams in the form of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

However, Evin Lewis’ return to form will certainly boost their chance with an in-form middle-order. The bowlers have also done a considerable job with Mayank Markande claiming a lion’s share.

Moreover, Punjab’s fragile middle-order has been exposed once again in the last match. They will look to get their acts fix ahead of the do-or-die clash.

However, Chris Gayle, after a few decent starts, has lost his prime touch. The Punjab dugout will want him to provide a blistering start.

Weather Forecast:

According to AccuWeather, there aren’t any chances of rain, which is a good news for the teams to start with.

Moreover, it will be hot in Mumbai as the humidity is likely on the higher side. The humidity will be around 77-79 percent and therefore, the need for the players to keep themselves hydrated becomes that much more important.

However, the dew is likely to play an important role with the toss deciding the fate of the game.
