Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) skipper Dinesh Karthik has showered heaps of praise on his teammate Andre Russell stating him as the best T20 all-rounder in the world.
Meanwhile, Kolkata has fought back their way from adverse situation to play the qualifiers. They will square off against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Eden Gardens on May 25 (Friday).
Karthik has played a crucial role for Kolkata batting in that middle-order. KKR skipper has provided stability in the middle-order leading the team from the front.
Talking about Friday’s clash, Karthik admits that they need to focus on what they need to do. He also credited his bowlers for some outstanding contribution in the last game.
“To be honest, I’m not very keen to talk about Friday’s match. What I’ll say is that we just need to focus on what we need to do. Both KKR and the Sunrisers are good teams and, so, everybody expects a good contest. It is, after all, Qualifier II,” Karthik said to The Telegraph.
Best T20 all-rounder globally
Karthik hailed his teammate, Russell, who played a blistering knock to guide Kolkata to post a challenging total. The Windies all-rounder has been in good form chipping in with useful contribution for his franchise.
So far, Russell has scored 313 runs at a staggering strike-rate and backed it up with 13 wickets.
“In my view, globally, Andre is the finest T20 all-rounder. He’s a superstar. Again, in my opinion, Andre is an even better human being than he is a cricketer. He’s fun-loving, is witty and is such a wonderful guy to have around in the squad,” KKR skipper added.
Talking about Prasidh Krishna, who has been an overnight star coming as a replacement, Karthik noted that he has a bright future. He also hailed the young seamer for his match-awareness.
In conclusion, Karthik mentioned that it is their self-belief which has brought them to the qualifiers. Meanwhile, the winner from this game will set up a date with Chennai Super Kings on Sunday’s final.
