IPL 2018: We Need a Collective Effort, Says Amit Mishra

Delhi Daredevils spinner Amit Mishra said that the team is relaxed and they need a collective team effort to progress ahead in the ongoing edition of India Premier League (IPL) 2018.

The Delhi franchise has lost six matches out of the nine they have played. Men in Blue will have to win at least four more matches out of the remaining five to keep their playoffs hopes alive.

Leg-spinner Mishra, who has a plethora of experience said that the team is not looking far too ahead in the tournament.

Moreover, the experienced bowler added that the team is looking to take one game at the time. Meanwhile, Delhi will have to be at the top of their game if they want to qualify for the final four.

The Delhi team will have their work cut out to make their way into playoffs.

“We are not in a situation where we can look beyond one game at a time. We are mentally relaxed after the two wins in the last three matches. The youngsters in the team have stepped up and we are intent on staying positive,” said Mishra in the pre-match conference.

Mishra added that they need a whole team effort and they should not depend on individual brilliance to take them forward in the tournament.

“It is not the job of one or two individuals, taking the team to victory. Be it batting or bowling, a collective effort is needed,” Mishra added.

Delhi-based bowler Mishra had taken a beating in his first match against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). Subsequently, he was shown exit doors from the playing XI.  He added that it was team management’s decision to drop him from the final XI.

The leggie in the form of Amit Mishra is now happy to get his chances and has done well in the last couple of matches.

Delhi should be at the top of their game.

“It was the management’s decision to bench me after the first match. I was waiting for my chance and am happy to have got decent results. I always stayed positive. It is also heartening to see that almost every team now has a wrist spinner. Whether they take wickets or not, teams have begun to understand the value of wrist spinners,” he said.

Daredevils have their work cut out to make it to the playoff stages.

The Delhi-bound outfit team will start their strenuous examination as they will wrestle it out against dominant Hyderabad for a couple of points.
