Prior to the start of the 11th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL), the tournament received a major blow when the entire ball-tampering row unfolded at Cape Town in South Africa.

Retained captains of Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Steven Smith and David Warner respectively were not allowed to feature in the tournament, due to the one-year ban imposed by Cricket Australia (CA).

Sunrisers, therefore, had to appoint a new skipper in Kane Williamson, replacing their talismanic captain for the tournament.

However, with the inspirational captaincy of New Zealand’s all-format skipper, Williamson didn’t let the camp to feel the absence of Warner, this season.

Also, Williamson’s consistency has been remarkable as he notched up half-centuries in almost all the matches in the round-robin league.

To top it all, SRH ended up on top of the points table, becoming the first team to qualify for the playoffs. As a result, the Orange Army faces off the sea of yellow in the first Qualifiers of the Qualifier first.

Warner, supporting SRH in the background, took to Twitter to wish his pals at Hyderabad.

Good luck to @SunRisers tonight, keep playing well gentlemen. Been simply outstanding and being well lead by The great man himself Kane,” David Warner tweeted recently.
