Foreign players in IPL auctions have always been a hot property. Sometimes, they have disappointed while on other occasions, some of them have done well too.

Coming to the upcoming IPL season, it will be interesting to see whether the foreign buys do well or not. Let’s have a look a the top five foreign players who will be the players to look out for:

Ben Stokes – For the second running year, Ben Stokes highlighted the IPL auction after being bought by Rajasthan Royals for an amount of Rs 12.50 Crore. Though there still doubts linger on the availability of Stokes, still, franchises went behind him.

Stokes, again, will be the player to watch out for. Later year, he did well under the pressure of amount spent on him and bagged the Man of the tournament award.

In total, he scored 316 runs and also scalped 12 wickets. In short, he was a complete package in the last IPL and served the services of two players.

Again, he is expected to emulate his success in the league, but before that, he will have to get relief from the court as his case will be heard on February 13. His case has already seen his comeback to the national team being delayed.

Rashid Khan – How could have Sunrisers Hyderabad left that player whom they groomed in the last auction? This year, SRH had to pay Rashid Rs 9 Crore (5 Crore more than his previous amount) to gain his services.

Just like Stokes, Rashid too justified the money spent on him and with 17 wickets alongside his name. Rashid was the biggest find of last IPL.

Just not IPL, he has done well in various other T20 leagues as well and not to forget his performance at international level. The leggie was the second highest wicket-taker in ODI last year (43 wickets) and was the third highest wicket-taker in T20Is (17 wickets) in 2017.

He is expected to continue his brilliant form in IPL 2018 as well.

D’Arcy Short – The highest run-scorer of Big Bash League 2017/18 (as on January 28) has already made it to the Australian team riding on his exploits in the BBL and now, he has already attracted a lot of eyebrows by bagging a contract worth Rs 4 Crore with Rajasthan Royals.

He is the much-talked player, presently, and the talks will continue till he comes to India to play IPL. Before that, the cricket fraternity will be watching him play international cricket for Australia as he has been selected in the T20I side for the series against England. This would surely give an idea of how this player is.

Mitchell Starc – The Aussie speedster was expected to be a big buy but keeping in mind the tendency of Cricket Australia to pay more attention to managing workload, him bagging an amount of Rs 9.40 Crore was a surprise.

Kolkata Knight Riders went all out behind him to ensure that they buy this player. IPL fans did not see him play last year as he withdrew from the league and this year, he is all set to make his comeback with a bang as he has become the talk of the town after being sold for an amount of Rs 9.40 Crore.

Jofra Archer – An uncapped international player in IPL is always a delight to watch. Archer has drawn a lot of limelight while playing for in the Big Bash League, which saw him being bought by Rajasthan Royals for an amount of Rs 7.20 Crore.

He has done well on Australian soil and now its time to replicate that performance in IPL – biggest T20 league – as well.

Should he do well in IPL, he will continue to be a hot property in IPL auctions in the coming seasons, and the opposite can be the case if he does not perform well.
